I chose to come to Buenos Aires, Argentina four years ago after spending my freshman year of college at Syracuse University in upstate New York. I had decided I needed a drastic change after this and as a Spanish major, traveling to a Spanish-speaking country seemed like the perfect opportunity to advance my language skills and discover a new part of the world. After participating in a summer volunteer program in Costa Rica my junior year of high school, I developed a great interest in Latin America and was enthusiastic about the idea of seeing more. After my first year in Buenos Aires, I discovered CLUC, which gave me the chance to get an American-style education and degree while continuing to live in a city and culture I had grown to love. The small family-like community CLUC offered varied greatly from my college experience in the past. I got to know and interact with all of my fellow peers and professors on a much more personal level. I was also exposed to a wide range of cultures from all over the world, as CLUC truly is an international environment. As I embark on my graduation and the next stage of my life I can honestly say that my experiences living and studying in Buenos Aires will continue to enhance my future.

Hi! My Name is Paras Tulsiani, I am an Indian who has spent 4 years living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2009 I came to study in C-LUC and I can honestly say, I have never looked back on that decision. Although a small community, C-LUC has definitely provided me with the opportunity to meet exciting and interesting students coming from different backgrounds and cultures. C-LUC also brings a warm feeling of closeness and togetherness amongst the students. I must add that my experience in C-LUC has been exceptional, as it has helped broaden my mind and aided my intellectual and cultural growth.

Growing up as third culture kid, I am lucky enough to experience my college years in a very relaxed and friendly educational setting in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The initial reason I went to C-LUC is due to the fact that it is the only English speaking university in the country. Upon arrival from Jakarta, Indonesia, I wasn’t able to speak a word in Spanish, through my years in C-LUC I have been fortunate enough to learn and incorporate Castellano; the Spanish dialect spoken in Argentina, Uruguay and other parts of Latin America. Other than that, C-LUC has been the place where I was able to find friends from many parts of the globe, great people from Lebanon, India, Switzerland, Nigeria, Egypt, Spain, England to name a few. Also, the faculty and staff have always been very helpful from the beginning, our small community has constantly led us to feel as if we were in a familiar atmosphere. It’s been a great opportunity for me to study in English and live my daily life in Spanish, as the slogan states, glad to be part of it… hehe.

After a dreadful year in a Swiss factory-university crowded among hundreds of students I decided to leave Europe and start over. My selection came down to two options: Cape Town University and C-Luc. Seeing pros and cons for both induced me to externalize my decision and toss a coin, whose un-appealable verdict said, “C-Luc, Buenos Aires”. I had chosen it as an option because it offered the possibility to transfer to the U.S. (where I am currently finishing my degree in International Affairs), allowing me to live affordably in Argentina for three years. C-Luc turned out to be exactly what I needed: a custom-made environment based on building constructive relationships with fellow students and faculty, through the exchange of knowledge. Looking back at my three years at C-Luc I can see how it worked as a catalyst in fostering my personal growth beyond my expectations. |
